Amajorcauseofsonarproblemsiselectrical noise. Thisusuallyappearsonthe sonar'sdisplayas random patternsof dots or lines. In severe cases, it can completelycoverthe screenwith blackdots,orcause the unitoperateerraticly, or not atall.

To eliminate or minimize the effectsofelectrical noise, firsttrytodeterminethe cause. Withthe boatat restin the water,the firstthing you shoulddois turn all electrical equipmentontheboatoff.
