happen if the instructions are not followed.
Your safety and the safety of others are very important.
We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following:
WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, electric shock,
fire, injury to persons, or exposure to excessive microwave
energy:
Read all instructions before using the microwave oven.
Read and follow the specific “PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID
POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE
ENERGY” found in this section.
The microwave oven must be grounded. Connect only to
properly grounded outlet. See “GROUNDING
INSTRUCTIONS” found in this section.
Install or locate the microwave oven only in accordance
with the provided Installation Instructions.
Some products such as whole eggs in the shell and sealed
containers – for example, closed glass jars – may explode
and should not be heated in the microwave oven.
Use the microwave oven only for its intended use as
described in this manual. Do not use corrosive chemicals
or vapors in the microwave oven. This type of oven is
specifically designed to heat, cook, or dry food. It is not
designed for industrial or laboratory use.
Oversized foods or oversized metal utensils should not be
inserted in the microwave oven as they may create a fire or
risk of electric shock.
Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can burn off
the pad and touch electrical parts involving a risk of electric
shock.
Do not store any materials, other than manufacturer's
recommended accessories, in this oven when not in use.
Do not operate the microwave oven if it has a damaged
cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been
damaged or dropped.
Do not deep fry in oven. Microwavable utensils are not
suitable and it is difficult to maintain appropriate deep frying
temperatures.
Do not use paper products when appliance is operated in
the “PAN BROWN” mode.
Do not cover racks or any other part of the oven with metal
foil. This will cause overheating of the oven.
As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary
when used by children.
The microwave oven should be serviced only by qualified
service personnel. Contact nearest authorized service
company for examination, repair, or adjustment.
Do not cover or block any openings on the microwave
oven.

Electrical Requirements
Observe all governing codes and ordinances. The microwave
oven is connected to both 120-volt sides of the 208/240-volt
circuit required for electrical connections. If the incoming voltage
to the microwave oven is less than 120 volts, cooking times may
be longer. Have a qualified electrician check your electrical
system.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to be
overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be
boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is
removed from the microwave oven is not always present.
THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS
SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS
DISTURBED OR A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS
INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.
To reduce the risk of injury to persons:
– Do not overheat the liquid.
– Stir the liquid both before and halfway through heating it.
– Do not use straight-sided containers with narrow necks.
– After heating, allow the container to stand in the
microwave oven for a short time before removing the
container.
– Use extreme care when inserting a spoon or other utensil
into the container.
Do not store the microwave oven outdoors. Do not use this
product near water - for example, near a kitchen sink, in a
wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and the like.
See door surface cleaning instructions in the “Oven Care”
section.
To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity:
– Do not overcook food. Carefully attend the microwave
oven if paper, plastic, or other combustible materials are
placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking.
– Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before
placing bags in oven.
– If materials inside the oven should ignite, keep oven door
closed, turn oven off, and disconnect the power cord, or
shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
– Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave
paper products, cooking utensils, or food in the cavity
when not in use.
PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO
EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY
(a) Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open
since open-door operation can result in harmful exposure
to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat or
tamper with the safety interlocks.
(b) Do not place any object between the oven front face and
the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on
sealing surfaces.
(c) Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly
important that the oven door close properly and that there
is no damage to the:
(1) Door (bent),
(2) Hinges and latches (broken or loosened),
(3) Door seals and sealing surfaces.
(d) The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone
except properly qualified service personnel.
This device complies with Part 18 of the FCC Rules.
For a permanently connected microwave oven:
The microwave oven must be connected to a grounded,
metallic, permanent wiring system, or an equipment
grounding conductor should be run with the circuit
conductors and connected to the equipment grounding
terminal or lead on the microwave oven.

Turntable
The turntable rotates in both directions to help cook food more
evenly. Do not operate the microwave oven without having the
turntable in place. See “Assistance or Service” to reorder any of
the parts.
The raised, curved lines in the center of the turntable bottom fit
between the 3 spokes of the hub. The hub turns the turntable
during microwave oven use. The rollers on the support should fit
inside the turntable bottom ridge.
To Tu rn On /Of f:
For best microwave performance it is recommended to always
leave the turntable on. If necessary, the turntable can be turned
off (except during an auto function).
This is helpful when cooking with a dish that is larger than the
turntable.

Convection Grid
(on some models)
The convection grid provides optimal heat circulation for
convection cooking (on some models). It is recommended for
convection cooking and for grilling thick pieces of meat such as
bone-in chicken.
The grid will become hot. Always use oven mitts or pot
holders when handling.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not allow the
grid to touch the inside cavity walls, ceiling or floor.
Always use the turntable.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not store the
grid in the oven.
Two-level cooking is not recommended.
For best results, do not place popcorn bags on the grid.
The grid is designed specifically for this oven. For best
cooking results, do not attempt to use any other grid in this
oven.
Grilling Grid
(on some models)
The grilling grid is recommended for use when cooking thin
pieces of meat such as steak.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not allow the
grid to touch the inside cavity walls, ceiling or floor.
Always use the turntable.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not store the
grid in the oven.
Two-level cooking is not recommended.
For best results, do not place popcorn bags on the grid.

Coated Crisper Pan and Handle
(on some models)
The crisper pan, with its nonstick surface and detachable handle,
has been specifically designed for microwave use, and is ideal for
pan-frying (pan-browning) foods in the microwave oven.
The crisper pan will become hot. Always use the handle and
oven mitts or pot holders when handling. Place gripping end
on the edge of pan, squeeze handle, and lift pan.
Do not allow the crisper pan or handle to touch the inside
cavity walls, ceiling or floor.
Use the turntable as a support for the crisper pan.
Do not place hot crisper pan on heat-sensitive surfaces.
Damage may occur.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not use another
metal object with the crisper pan.
The crisper pan is designed specifically for this oven. Do not
use it in any other oven.
Use only wooden or plastic cooking utensils to help avoid
scratches.

Touch Panel
The touch panel houses the control menu and function controls.
The touch pads are very sensitive, and require only a light touch
to activate.
For more information about the individual controls, see their
respective sections in this manual.
Welcome Guide
This appears on your display the first time the microwave is
powered up. The Welcome Guide allows you to setup your new
microwave.
After every selection, a double beep will sound.
1. Select your language by pressing the quickset pad next to
English or French.
2. Select the temperature units by pressing the quickset pad
next to Fahrenheit or Celsius.
3. Select the clock units by pressing the quickset pad nexto to
AM/PM or 24 Hour (Military Time).
4. Choose Yes or No to have the Daylight-Savings-Time
automatically updated.
5. Enter current time (--:--) using the number keypad and
choose AM or PM by pressing the quickset pad next to them.
6. Enter current date (MM/DD/YYYY) using the number keypad
and press the quickset pad next to the Next option.
7. Select a screen appearance to match your microwave. Press
the quickset pad next to Stainless, Black, White or Oiled-
Bronze.
8. Review your settings and press the quickset pad next to Save
option. A message will show: “You have selected a new
theme. The oven will reset momentarily. Please wait....” It will
take 1 minute to restart with the new settings set.
9. See the “Setup Menu” section for more detailed information.
Display
When the oven(s) is in use (active mode), the display shows the
oven temperature, heat source(s) and timer, if set.
After approximately 2 minutes of inactivity, the display will go into
standby (sleep) mode, and the backlight of the display will dim.
When the oven is in operation, the display will remain active.
During programming, the display shows menus and the
appropriate selections for the respective cooking function.
Display Screen
The LCD display screen is used to make menu selections, adjust
settings and input commands.
Menu selections and input adjustments are made in the center
portion of the screen, and the command inputs (Back, More,
Start, etc.) are made using the bottom buttons. Screen titles and
descriptions are displayed in the top portion of the screen. A light
to medium pressure touch of the fingertip will activate the menu
selection.

From the Main Menu, all automatic cooking programs can be activated; all manual cooking can be programmed; settings can be
adjusted; and instructions, preparation, and tips can be accessed.

Menu Demonstration
The following demonstrates a sequence showing how to bake a
potato from the “Built-in Foods” menu.
1. Touch the START button or touch the MICROWAVE button
(on combination oven models).
2. From the Select Mode menu, touch the quickset pad next to
“Cook.”
3. Touch the quickset pad next to BAKED POTATO.
4. Use the quickset pad to select one of the preset quantities.
5. Choose the desired Doneness by pressing the “< Less” or
“> More” buttons.
6. Press Start.

Setup Menu
Your microwave provides you with the ability to control several of
the default settings and access information through the on
screen display. These include: Clock, Sound, Appearance,
Language, Temperature Units, Service, Learning Mode and
Restore Defaults.
To Acess Setup Menu:
1. Press START.
2. From the Select Mode menu, press the MORE button until
you see the Setup Menu choice.
3. Touch the quickset pad next to the Setup Menu choice.
Clock
This clock can be used in 12-hour or 24-hour format.
At any time desired, press BACK to return to the Setup Menu.
1. From the Setup menu, touch the quickset pad next to Clock.
2. From the Clock menu, touch the quickset pad next to Time.
3. Enter current time (--:--). Choose AM or PM.
4. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Clock settings menu.
5. From the Clock menu, touch the quickset pad next to DATE.
6. Enter current date (MM/DD/YYYY). Select ON or OFF for
Daylight Savings Adjust.
7. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Clock settings menu.
8. From the Clock menu, touch the quickset pad next to Format.
9. Select time format: AM/PM or 24 hour (Military Time).
10. Select SAVE. This will return you to the clock display screen.
11. From the Setup Menu, touch the quickset pad next to Clock.
12. From the Clock menu, touch the quickset pad next to Clock
Style.
13. Select clock style on idle screen: Analog or Digital.
14. Select SAVE. This will return you to the clock display screen.
Sound
1. From the Setup menu, touch the quickset pad next to Sound.
2. From the Sound menu, touch the quickset pad next to Timer
Volume.
3. Adjust the Timer Volume by touching the left quickset pad to
decrease the volume, or the right quickset pad to increase
the volume. To turn Timer Volume off, touch the left quickset
pad until Off appears.
4. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Sound settings menu.
5. From the Sound menu, touch the quickset pad next to Button
Volume.
6. Adjust Button volume by touching the left quickset pad to
decrease the volume and the right quickset pad to increase
the volume. To turn Button Volume off, touch the left quickset
pad until Off appears.
7. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Sound menu.
8. From the Sound menu, select ON or OFF on Startup/
Shutdown Sounds.
9. Press BACK to return to the Setup menu.
Screen Appearance
1. From the Setup menu, touch the quickset pad next to Screen
Appearance.
2. From the Appearance menu, touch the quickset pad next to
Brightness.
3. Adjust the screen brightness by touching the left quickset
pad to select dimmer and the right quickset pad to select
brighter.
4. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Screen Appearance
settings menu.
5. From the Screen Appearance menu, select ON or OFF on
Animation. When on, the animation (gradient and heat waves)
are shown while the oven is heating.
6. From the Screen Appearance Menu, touch the quickset pad
next to Theme.
7. Select an appearance to match your oven: Dark/Blue, Light/
Blue, Dark/Orange, Bronze/White.
8. After selecting a theme, a message will show: “You have
selected a new theme. The oven will reset momentarily.
Please wait....” It will take 1 minute to restart with the new
settings set.
Language
1. From the Setup menu, touch the quickset pad next to
Language.
2. From the Language menu, select your language: English or
French. This will return you to the Setup Menu.
Temperature Units (on some models)
1. From the Setup Menu, touch the MORE button until Temp
Units appears.
2. Touch the quickset pad next to Temp Units.
3. From the Temp Units menu, select temperature units:
Fahrenheit or Celsius.
4. Select SAVE. This will return you to the Setup menu.
Service Information
1. From the Setup Menu, touch the MORE button until Service
Info appears.
2. Touch the quickset pad next to Service Info.
3. The JennAir service phone number and website are displayed
in the screen.
4. Depending on the oven model, a Demo Mode is available.
This mode will allow you to make selections with various
options without heating the oven. Select ON/OFF to activate
or deactivate the function. When On, it will be indicated at the
bottom of the screen.
5. See “Assistance or Service” section for additional
information.
Restore Factory Settings
1. From the Setup Menu, touch the MORE button until Restore
Factory Defaults appears.
2. Touch the quickset pad next to Restore Factory Defaults.
3. The following settings will be lost: Language, Temperature
Units, Clock Settings, Date and Screen Appearance. The
Welcome Guide will appear to help you reset these settings.
See the “Welcome Guide” section for additional information.

Kitchen Timer
This is an independent timer not associated with the cook timers.
1. Press the Kitchen Timer button anytime needed.
2. Enter the desired time (00:00:00) using the number keypad.
3. Press the quickset pad next to Cancel Timer to cancel the
function or press Start.
4. While the Kitchen Timer is running, the timer is minimized to
the bar at the bottom of the screen.
5. To adjust the Kitchen Timer, press the Kitchen Timer button
and choose between Cancel Timer, Hide, or Reset by
pressing the quickset pads next to them.
6. If Cancel Timer is pressed, the timer is canceled and the
panel is hidden.
7. If Hide is pressed, the panel is lowered to the appropriate
position. Pressing the Kitchen Timer button will also hide the
panel.
8. If Reset is pressed, the Kitchen Timer is kept open but resets
to (00:00:00); a new value can now be entered.
9. When the Kitchen Timer is complete, a beep will sound.
10. It is possible to add extra time by pressing the quickset pad
next to Add More Time or to cancel the function by pressing
the quickset pad next to Cancel Timer.
11. To add more time, use the number keypad.
12. Press START.
Button Lock
The Button Lock allows all the buttons to be locked.
To Activate the Button Lock:
1. From the Select Mode menu, touch the MORE button until
Button Lock appears. Press the quickset pad next to it.
2. While the buttons are locked, there is a “locked” icon on the
idle screen.
To Deactivate the Button Lock:
1. If any button was pressed, an unlock message will appear on
the screen.
2. To unlock, press and hold the START button for 3 seconds.
Tu rn ta b le
1. From the “Select Mode” menu, touch MORE until “Turntable”
is shown. Touch the quickset pad next to “Turntable” to turn it
On or Off.
Presets
The Presets button is a shortcut to a list of 8 common foods from
the “Built-in Foods” list and can be used to directly select a cook
mode. The default list of common foods is: “Reheat Beverage,”
“Cook Baked Potato,” “Cook Frozen Entree,” “Cook Popcorn,”
“Reheat Pizza Slice,” “Reheat Soup/Sauce,” “Defrost Meat,” and
“Defrost Poultry.”
30 Sec
If the microwave oven is in a cook cycle, pressing the 30 Sec
button will add 30 seconds of cook time onto the current cycle.
The additional 30 seconds will be added to the cook time in the
display.
If the microwave is idle, pressing the 30 Sec button will begin a

BUILT-IN MICROWAVE OVEN
USE
A magnetron in the oven produces microwaves which reflect off
the metal floor, walls and ceiling and pass through the turntable
and appropriate cookware to the food. Microwaves are attracted
to and absorbed by fat, sugar and water molecules in the food,
causing them to move, producing friction and heat which cooks
the food.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not lean on or
allow children to swing on the microwave oven door.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not operate
microwave oven when it is empty.
The turntable must be in place and correct side up when
microwave oven is in use. Do not use if turntable is chipped
or broken. See “Assistance or Service” section to reorder.
Baby bottles and baby food jars should not be heated in
microwave oven.
Clothes, flowers, fruit, herbs, wood, gourds, paper, including
brown paper bags and newspaper, should not be dried in
microwave oven.
Paraffin wax will not melt in the microwave oven because it
does not absorb microwaves.
Use oven mitts or pot holders when removing containers from
microwave oven.
Do not overcook potatoes. At the end of the recommended
cook time, potatoes should be slightly firm. Let potatoes
stand for 5 minutes. They will finish cooking while standing.
Do not cook or reheat whole eggs inside the shell. Steam
buildup in whole eggs may cause them to burst. Cover
poached eggs and allow a standing time.
Food Characteristics
When microwave cooking, the amount, size and shape, starting
temperature, composition and density of the food affect cooking
results.
Amount of Food
The more food heated at once, the longer the cook time needed.
Check for doneness and add small increments of time if
necessary.
Size and Shape
Smaller pieces of food will cook more quickly than larger pieces,
and uniformly shaped foods cook more evenly than irregularly
shaped food.
Starting Temperature
Room temperature foods will heat faster than refrigerated foods,
and refrigerated foods will heat faster than frozen foods.
Composition and Density
Foods high in fat and sugar will reach a higher temperature, and
will heat faster than other foods. Heavy, dense foods, such as
meat and potatoes, require a longer cook time than the same size
of a light, porous food, such as cake.

Cooking Guidelines
Covering
Covering food helps retain moisture, shorten cook time and
reduce spattering. Use the lid supplied with cookware. If a lid is
not available, wax paper, paper towels or plastic wrap approved
for microwave ovens may be used. Plastic wrap should be turned
back at one corner to provide an opening to vent steam.
Condensation on the door and cavity surfaces is normal during
heavy cooking.
Stirring and Turning
Stirring and turning redistribute heat evenly to avoid overcooking
the outer edges of food. Stir from outside to center. If possible,
turn food over from bottom to top.
Arranging
If heating irregularly shaped or different sized foods, arrange the
thinner parts and smaller sized items toward the center. If
cooking several items of the same size and shape, place them in
a ring pattern, leaving the center of the ring empty.
Piercing
Before heating, use a fork or small knife to pierce or prick foods
that have a skin or membrane, such as potatoes, egg yolks,
chicken livers, hot dogs, and sausage. Prick in several places to
allow steam to vent.
Shielding
Use small, flat pieces of aluminum foil to shield the thin pieces of
irregularly shaped foods, bones and foods such as chicken
wings, leg tips and fish tail. See “Aluminum Foil and Metal” first.
Standing Time
Food will continue to cook by the natural conduction of heat even
after the microwave cooking cycle ends. The length of standing
time depends on the volume and density of the food.
Tur nta ble On/ Off
For best performance, the turntable should be on during
microwave cooking.
If using oversized cookware that does not turn freely on the
turntable, turn the turntable off. See the “Turntable” section for
additional information.
When microwave cooking with the turntable off, food should be
turned halfway through the cooking process.
Cookware and Dinnerware
Cookware and dinnerware must fit on the turntable. Always use
oven mitts or pot holders when handling because any dish may
become hot from heat transferred from the food. Do not use
cookware and dinnerware with gold or silver trim. Use the
following chart as a guide, then test before using.
To Test Cookware or Dinnerware for Microwave Use:
1. Place cookware or dinnerware in microwave oven with
1 cup (250 mL) of water beside it.
2. Cook at 100% cooking power for 1 minute.
Do not use cookware or dinnerware if it becomes hot and the
water stays cool.
Aluminum Foil and Metal
Always use oven mitts or pot holders when removing dishes from
the microwave oven.
Aluminum foil and some metal can be used in the microwave
oven. If not used properly, arcing (a blue flash of light) can occur
and cause damage to the microwave oven.
OK for Use
Grids and bakeware supplied with the microwave oven (on some
models), aluminum foil for shielding, and approved meat
thermometers may be used with the following guidelines:
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not allow
aluminum foil or metal to touch the inside cavity walls, ceiling

approved meat thermometers, skewers, twist ties, foil liners
such as sandwich wrappers, staples and objects with gold or
silver trim or a metallic glaze should not be used in the
microwave oven.
Microwave Cooking Power
Many recipes for microwave cooking specify which cooking
power to use by percent, name or number. For example,
70%=7=Medium-High.
Use the following chart as a general guide for the suggested
cooking power of specific foods.
MICROWAVE COOKING POWER CHART
Cook Sensor
During the Sensor Cook function, a sensor automatically adjusts
for the cook time and power level.
The microwave oven display will show the time countdown once
the sensor identifies the cooking duration.
If the microwave oven door is opened during a sensor function,
the microwave oven will turn off and any additional operations
will be canceled.
For best cooking performance:
Before using a sensor cook function, make sure power has been
supplied to the microwave oven for at least 2 minutes, the room
temperature is not above 95°F (35°C), and the outside of the
cooking container and the microwave oven cavity are dry.
My Creations
My Creations allows the customization of cooking processes.
When My Creations is selected from the main menu a list of
existing creations is presented along with the ability to create
more.
1. From the Select Mode menu, touch the MORE button until
“My Creations” is shown. Touch the quickset pad next to “My
Creations” to select it.
2. Touch the quicket pad next to ADD NEW CREATION to
customize your cooking process.
3. Select the desired cook mode. Choose between “Cook,”
“Defrost,” “Reheat,” “Steam,” “Boil & Simmer,” “Melt,” or
“Soften.” On some models, “Convect Bake,” “Convect
Roast,” “Browning Pan” and “Broil & Grill” are also available.
4. Enter a Cook Time (--:--:--). The maximum length is 01:30:00.
5. Touch N EXT.
6. If the “Convect Bake” mode (on convection models) is
chosen, enter a cook temperature between 170° (77°C) and
450°F (232°C).
7. Select a power level between 10 - 100%. In the “Convect
Bake” mode (on convection models), the Power Level
selection is unavailable.
8. Touch N EXT.
9. Review your settings. If any extra stage is needed, touch the
quicket pad next to “Add Stage.” Each stage set shows the
following information: Mode, Power/Temperature, and Cook
Time. It is possible to have 3 stages. Enter the information
into each stage then touch SAVE.
10. Select a name for the new creation.
11. Review the settings. Touch the quickset pad next to “Delete
Now” to delete the item or “No” to save the settings.
12. You will return to the “My Creations” menu. Select the desired
creation by touching the quickset pad next to it. Then Press
START.

Built-in Foods
With the “Built-in Foods” wizard module, you can cook a food
without knowing the precise oven settings. Select the type of
foods and other parameters (such as doneness or weight), and
the interface responds with the best cooking settings.
1. From the “Presets” mode or from a cooking function, select
the type of food to be cooked.
2. Enter the quantity or fixed weight of the food. Use the “Next”
button to see all of the options.
3. In the “Defrost” Mode, “Weight Unknown” is shown. Select
“Weight Unknown” to choose a specific food and allow the
microwave to estimate the weight of the food. Then, select
the amount of food.
4. Review settings.
5. (Optional) For additional instructions, touch the quickset pad
next to “Instructions.” For example, foods being prepared in
the “Steam” mode may include additional information in the
instructions. The amount of food being prepared may require
the amount of water to change.
6. If available, touch the quickset pad next to “Doneness. Adjust
the doneness by touching the quickset pads next to “< Less”
or “> More” until the desired doneness is reached.
7. Touch “Save.”
8. Press START. The upper oven display will count down the
cook time.
When the stop time is reached, the oven will shut off
automatically.
If enabled end-of-cycle tones will sound, then reminder tones
will sound every minute.
9. (Optional) After cook ends, press the quickset pad next to
KEEP WARM. This will start a new cooking cycle that will
keep food warm. The microwave will run at 10% power for

The Speed Cook uses the broil element, convection element and
fan, and microwaves. All cycle on and off in intervals.
Bakeware and the interior oven surfaces, including the door,
will become hot.
Always use an instant read thermometer to determine
doneness of meat and poultry.
Use microwave-safe and ovenproof bakeware.
Do not use covers or containers made of foil, paper, waxed
paper, or plastic not recommended for use in a conventional
oven.
When roasting, meats and poultry may spatter. Plastic oven
bags designed for conventional oven use can be used for
easier cleanup. Follow manufacturer's recommendations.
When using the grilling grid or convection grid, place it
directly on the turntable.
Arrange pieces of food in a single layer on the crisper pan or
baking dish.
Before Speed Cooking, put food in the oven and close the door.
Preheating is not necessary.
To Use SpeedCook:
1. Touch the START button or touch the MICROWAVE button

Auto Convection Conversion
(on some models)
Convection cooking uses the convection element, the broil
element and the fan. Hot air is circulated throughout the oven
cavity by the fan. The constantly moving air surrounds the food to
heat the outer portion quickly.
The convect function may be used to cook small amounts of
food on a single grid.
Always use the grilling grid or convection grid placed on
turntable.
To avoid damage to the microwave oven, do not cover
turntable, grilling grid or convection grid, or baking tray with
aluminum foil.
Do not use light plastic containers, plastic wrap or paper
products. All heatproof cookware or metal utensils can be
used in convection cooking. Round pizza pans are excellent
for convection cooking.
When the broil element is in use, the cooling fan turns on and
stays on for up to 10 minutes after the cycle is over.
Use convection cooking for items such as souffles, breads,
cookies, angel food cakes, pizza, and most meats and fish.
Auto Convection Conversion is a function that converts a
standard thermal bake cook time and temperature into an ideal
cook time and temperature for convection cooking.
Convection temperatures and times differ from those of standard
cooking. The oven will automatically reduce standard recipe
temperatures and times for convection cooking.
The conversion may not be exact because foods are grouped in
general categories.

Defrost
The Defrost feature can be used, or the microwave oven can be
manually set to defrost by using 20% cook power.
For optimal results, food should be 0°F (-18°C) or colder
when defrosting.
Unwrap foods and remove lids (from fruit juice) before
defrosting.
Shallow packages will defrost more quickly than deep blocks.
Separate food pieces as soon as possible during or at the
end of the cycle for more even defrosting.
Foods left outside the freezer for more than 20 minutes or
frozen ready-made food should not be defrosted using the
Custom Defrost feature, but should be defrosted manually.
Use small pieces of aluminum foil to shield parts of food such
as chicken wings, leg tips and fish tails. See “Aluminum Foil
and Metal” first.
Times and cooking powers have been preprogrammed for
defrosting a number of food types. For each food category a
precise amount of food can be entered or preprogrammed
quantities can be selected.
To Use Programmed Defrost with Precise Amount of Food:
1. Touch the START button or touch the MICROWAVE button
(on combination oven models).
2. From the Select mode menu, touch the “More” button until
“Defrost” is shown. Touch the quickset pad next to “Defrost”
to select it.
3. Use the quickset pad to select the appropriate built-in food
category.
4. Enter the weight using the number keypad. The range is
between 0.1 lb and 6.5 lb (45 g - 2.9 kg). The weight ranges
are shown in the following table.
