DC012 Heavy-Duty Work Site Charger/Radio
The DC012 Heavy-Duty Work Site Charger/Radio is a combination AM/FM radio and DEWALT
charger. The DC012 will charge most D
EWALT 7.2 to 18.0 volt NiCd, NiMH, Li-Ion batteries
except for Univolt batteries. Batteries sold separately.

7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other
apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug
has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and
a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If
the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the
obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Only place radio on a level, stable surface.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long
periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required
when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply
cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus,
the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been
dropped.
15. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids,
such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus
The lightning flash with arrow head within a triangle is intended to tell the user that parts
inside the product are a risk of electric shock to persons.

Important Safety Instructions for All Battery Packs
When ordering replacement battery packs, be sure to include catalog number and voltage.
Consult the chart at the end of this manual for compatibility of chargers and battery packs.
The battery pack is not fully charged out of the carton. Before using the battery pack and
charger, read the safety instructions below. Then follow charging procedures outlined.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not charge or use battery in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Inserting or removing the battery from the charger may
ignite the dust or fumes.
• NEVER force battery pack into charger. DO NOT modify battery pack in any way
to fit into a non-compatible charger as battery pack may rupture causing serious
personal injury. Consult the chart at the end of this manual for compatibility of batteries and
chargers.
• Charge the battery packs only in D
EWALT chargers.
• DO NOT splash or immerse in water or other liquids.
• Do not store or use the tool and battery pack in locations where the temperature may
reach or exceed 105°F (40˚C) (such as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer).
DANGER: Electrocution hazard. Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason.
If battery pack case is cracked or damaged, do not insert into charger. Do not crush, drop or
damage battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has received a sharp blow,
been dropped, run over or damaged in any way (i.e., pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer,
stepped on). Electric shock or electrocution may result. Damaged battery packs should be
returned to service center for recycling.
NOTE: Battery storage and carrying caps are provided for use whenever the battery is out of the
tool or charger. Remove cap before placing battery in charger or tool.
WARNING: Fire hazard. Do not store or carry battery so that metal objects
can contact exposed battery terminals. For example, do not place battery in
aprons, pockets, tool boxes, product kit boxes, drawers, etc., with loose nails,
screws, keys, etc. without battery cap. Transporting batteries can possibly
cause fires if the battery terminals inadvertently come in contact with
conductive materials such as keys, coins, hand tools and the like. The US Department of
Transportation Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR) actually prohibit transporting batteries in
commerce or on airplanes (i.e., packed in suitcases and carry-on luggage) UNLESS they are
properly protected from short circuits. So when transporting individual batteries, make sure that
the battery terminals are protected and well insulated from materials that could contact them and
cause a short circuit.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR NICKEL CADMIUM (NiCd) OR NICKEL METAL
HYDRIDE (NiMH)
• Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn
out. The battery pack can explode in a fire.
• A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack cells may occur under extreme usage
or temperature conditions. This does not indicate a failure.
However, if the outer seal is broken:
a. and the battery liquid gets on your skin, immediately wash with soap and water for several
minutes.
b. and the battery liquid gets into your eyes, flush them with clean water for a minimum of
10 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. (Medical note: The liquid is 25-35%
solution of potassium hydroxide.)
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR LITHIUM ION (LI-ION)
• Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is severely damaged or is completely
worn out. The battery pack can explode in a fire. Toxic fumes and materials are created
when lithium ion battery packs are burned.
• If battery contents come into contact with the skin, immediately wash area with
mild soap and water. If battery liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the open eye for
15 minutes or until irritation ceases. If medical attention is needed, the battery electrolyte is
composed of a mixture of liquid organic carbonates and lithium salts.
• Contents of opened battery cells may cause respiratory irritation. Provide fresh air. If
symptoms persists, seek medical attention.
WARNING: Burn hazard. Battery liquid may be flammable if exposed to spark or flame.
The RBRC™ Seal
The RBRC™ (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp oration) Seal on the nickel
cadmium, nickel metal hydride or lithium ion batteries (or battery packs) indicate
that the costs to recycle these batteries (or battery packs) at the end of their useful
life have already been paid by D
EWALT. In some areas, it is illegal to place spent
nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride or lithium ion batteries in the trash or
municipal solid waste stream and the RBRC™ program provides an environmentally
conscious alternative.
RBRC™ in cooperation with D
EWALT and other battery users, has established programs in
the United States and Canada to facilitate the collection of spent nickel cadmium, nickel metal
hydride or lithium ion batteries. Help protect our environment and conserve natural resources
by returning the spent nickel cadmium and nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride or lithium ion
batteries to an authorized D
EWALT service center or to your local retailer for recycling. You may
also contact your local recycling center for information on where to drop off the spent battery.

Important Safety Instructions for All Battery Chargers
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS: This manual contains important safety and operating instructions
for the DC012 charger/radio.
• Before using charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on charger, battery pack,
and product using battery pack.
DANGER: Electrocution hazard. 120 volts are present at charging terminals. Do not probe
with conductive objects. Electric shock or electrocution may result.
WARNING: Shock hazard. Do not allow any liquid to get inside charger. Electric shock may
result.
CAUTION: Burn hazard. To reduce the risk of injury, charge only DEWALT rechargeable
batteries. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.
CAUTION: Under certain conditions, with the charger plugged in to the power supply, the
exposed charging contacts inside the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign
materials of a conductive nature such as, but not limited to, steel wool, aluminum foil, or any
buildup of metallic particles should be kept away from charger cavities. Always unplug the
charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack in the cavity. Unplug charger
before attempting to clean.
• DO NOT attempt to charge the battery pack with any chargers other than the ones in
this manual. The charger and battery pack are specifically designed to work together.
• These chargers are not intended for any uses other than charging D
EWALT rechargeable
batteries. Any other uses may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
• Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
• Pull by plug rather than cord when disconnecting charger. This will reduce risk of
damage to electric plug and cord.
• Make sure that cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or
otherwise subjected to damage or stress.
• Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutely necessary. Use of improper
extension cord could result in risk of fire, electric shock, or electrocution.
• An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for
safety. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable, that is
16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. When using more than one extension to make up
the total length, be sure each individual extension contains at least the minimum wire size.
Use of Extension Cords
Only use grounded extension cords that are rated for outdoor use and equipment with a third-
wire ground.
When a long extension cord is used to connect a worklight/charger or tool to a generator, a
voltage drop occurs. The longer the cord, the greater the voltage drop. This results in less voltage
being supplied to the worklight/charger or tool and increases the amount of current (amp) draw
or reduces performance. A heavier cord with a larger wire size will reduce the voltage drop. Be
sure to choose a cord that will supply enough voltage to operate your tool or worklight/charger.
The tables below indicate appropriate gauge for extension cords and the voltage drop caused
by the use of extension cords, given different electrical loads.
WARNING: Keep electrical cords in good condition. Do not use worn, bare, or frayed cords
because they can cause electrical shock.
WARNING: Operating equipment at low voltage can cause it to overheat. Using an
excessively long extension cord can cause the cord to overheat.

• Do not place any object on top of charger/radio or place the charger/radio on a soft
surface that might block the ventilation slots and result in excessive internal heat.
Place the charger/radio in a position away from any heat source.
• Do not operate charger/radio with a damaged cord or plug — have them replaced
immediately.
• Do not operate the charger/radio if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or
otherwise damaged in any way. Take it to an authorized service center.
• Do not disassemble charger/radio. Take it to an authorized service center when service
or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock, electrocution
or fire.
• Disconnect the charger/radio from the outlet before attempting any cleaning. This will
reduce the risk of electric shock. Removing the battery pack will not reduce this risk.
• NEVER attempt to connect 2 charger/radios together.
• This charger/radio is designed to operate on 120 Volts, 60 Hz AC. It also operates on
D
EWALT battery packs. Do not use any other voltage.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Charger/Radio
The DC012 will charge 7.2–18 Volt DEWALT battery packs and will play using 12–18 Volt
D
EWALT battery packs. Your battery may also be charged in DEWALT 1-hour chargers, 15-minute
chargers or vehicular 12-volt charger. Be sure to read all safety instructions before using your
charger. Consult the chart in this manual for compatibility of chargers and battery packs.
Charging Procedure (Fig. 1)
DANGER: Electrocution hazard. 120 volts present at charging terminals. Do not probe with
conductive objects. Danger of electric shock or electrocution. Keep battery door closed and
latched at all times
1. Plug the charger/radio into an appropriate AC power outlet or generator.
2. Insert the battery pack into the charging receptacle (I). Make sure the pack is fully seated in
the charger/radio, close the rear door and fasten the latch (H).
3. The red light on the front of the radio (J) will blink continuously indicating that the charging
process has started.
4. The completion of charge will be indicated by the red light remaining ON continuously.
Indicator Light Operation
Charge Indicators
The charger/radio is designed to detect certain problems that can arise with battery packs.
Problems are indicated by the red light flashing at a fast rate. If this occurs, re-insert battery
pack into the charger/radio. If the problem persists, try a different battery pack to determine if
the charger/radio is OK. If the new pack charges correctly, then the original pack is defective and
should be returned to a service center or other collection site for recycling. If the new battery pack
elicits the same trouble indication as the original, have the charger/radio tested at an authorized
service center.
HOT/COLD PACK DELAY
The charger/radio has a Hot/Cold Pack Delay feature: when the charger/radio detects a battery
that is hot, it automatically starts a Hot Pack Delay, suspending charging until the battery has
cooled. After the battery has cooled, the charger/radio automatically switches to the Pack
Charging mode. This feature ensures maximum battery life. The red light flashes long, then short
while in the Hot Pack Delay mode.
PROBLEM POWER LINE
The charger/radio has a Problem Power Line indicator. When the charger/radio is used with some
portable power sources such as generators or sources that convert DC to AC, the charger/radio
may temporarily suspend operation, flashing the red light with two fast blinks followed by a
pause. This indicates the power source is out of limits.
LEAVING THE BATTERY PACK IN THE CHARGER/RADIO
The charger/radio and battery pack can be left connected with the red light glowing indefinitely.
The charger/radio will keep the battery pack fresh and fully charged.
NOTE: A battery pack will slowly lose its charge when kept out of the charger/radio. If the battery
pack has not been kept on maintenance charge, it may need to be recharged before use. A
battery pack may also slowly lose its charge if left in a charger/radio that is not plugged into an
appropriate AC source.
WEAK BATTERY PACKS: The charger/radio can also detect a weak battery. Such batteries
are still usable but should not be expected to perform as much work. In such cases, about 10
seconds after battery insertion, the charger/radio will beep rapidly 8 times to indicate a weak
battery condition. The charger/radio will then go on to charge the battery to the highest capacity
possible.
Important Charging Notes
1. Longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the
air temperature is between 65°F and 75°F (18°- 24°C). DO NOT charge the battery pack in
an air temperature below +40°F (+4.5°C), or above +105°F (+40.5°C). This is important and
will prevent serious damage to the battery pack.
2. The charger/radio and battery pack may become warm to touch while charging. This is a
normal condition, and does not indicate a problem. To facilitate the cooling of the battery pack
after use, avoid placing the charger/radio or battery pack in a warm environment such as in
a metal shed, or an uninsulated trailer.
3. If the battery pack does not charge properly:
a. Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance.
b. Check to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when you
turn out the lights.
c. Move the charger/radio and battery pack to a location where the surrounding air
temperature is approximately 65°– 75°F (18°–24°C).
d. If charging problems persist, take the tool, battery pack and charger/radio to your local
service center.
4. The battery pack should be recharged when it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs which
were easily done previously. DO NOT CONTINUE to use under these conditions. Follow the
charging procedure. You may also charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no
adverse affect on the battery pack.
5. Under certain conditions, with the charger/radio plugged into the power supply, the exposed
charging contacts inside the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign materials
of a conductive nature such as, but not limited to, steel wool, aluminum foil, or any buildup
of metallic particles should be kept away from charger/radio cavities. Always keep the
battery door closed when there is no battery pack in the cavity. Unplug charger/radio before
attempting to clean.
6. Do not freeze or immerse the charger/radio in water or any other liquid.
WARNING: Shock hazard. Don’t allow any liquid to get inside the charger/radio. Electric
shock may result.
CAUTION: Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason. If the plastic housing of
the battery pack breaks or cracks, return to a service center for recycling.

OPERATING THE RADIO (FIG. 1, 2)
Your charger/radio is equipped with memory capacity in order to store the time and your
selected memory channels. When the radio is in the OFF position, this memory capacity is
powered by one coin cell battery that is included with the charger/radio.
TO INSTALL COIN CELL BATTERY
WARNING: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. When replacing battery,
replace it with the same or equivalent type CR2032. Observe correct polarity (+ and –) when
replacing batteries. Do not store or carry batteries so that metal objects can contact exposed
battery terminals.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn tool off and disconnect
charger/radio from power source before installing/changing battery.
1. Open the battery compartment by lifting the battery compartment latch (H).
2. Turn the screw (N) on the battery door (L) counterclockwise to remove.
3. Press down on the battery door latch and pull to open.
4. Install the coin cell battery (M) according to the diagram inside the coin cell battery area.
5. Replace the battery door, insert the screw and tighten.
6. Securely close the battery compartment.
NOTE: To reset the LCD display, clock and pre-sets, remove the coin cell battery and re-install
them. Follow this procedure if the screen seems to lock in place.
POWER/VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
1. To turn the radio on, turn the dial (A) clockwise until you hear a click.
2. Turn the dial (A) clockwise to increase the volume. To decrease the volume, turn
counterclockwise.
MODE FUNCTION
To choose one of the mode functions (FM1, FM2, AM, or AUX) push the mode button (D) until
the desired function is found. For example, if the radio is on FM1, seen in upper left portion of
LCD display (G), push the mode button three times to change to AUX.
TUNE OR SEEK FUNCTION
There are two tuning methods and one seek method for finding the desired frequency.
To Tune:
Method 1: Push and hold down the right arrow button (C) to quickly move the tuner up the
frequency band. Release the button when the desired channel is reached. To quickly
move the tuner down the frequency band, push and hold down the left arrow button.
Method 2: Turn the tuning dial (B) clockwise to move up the frequency band. Turn the tuning dial
counterclockwise to move down the frequency band.
To Seek:
Press the right arrow button (C) once and release. The tuner frequency will increase to seek the
first radio station with acceptable clarity and stop at that station. The right arrow button may be
pressed again to continue seeking a radio station at higher frequencies. The left arrow button
may be pressed to seek radio stations at lower frequencies. The seek function is available in AM
and FM modes.
TO PROGRAM THE CLOCK
1. Turn power on (see Power/Volume Adjustment).
2. Push and hold clock button (E) until the LCD display (G) begins flashing.
3. Press the appropriate arrow button (HR for hour; MIN for minute) to adjust the time.
NOTE: If you do not press a button within 5 seconds, the clock programming feature will
automatically return to the previous setting.
4. Once the time is set, push and hold the clock button until the time on the LCD display stops
flashing.
TO PROGRAM THE MEMORY BUTTONS
Ten FM and five AM radio stations may be independently set. After programming the buttons,
pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 will instantly change the frequency to the preset station.
1. Turn power on.
2. Set the radio to desired station (see Tune or Seek Function).
3. Press and hold one of the desired memory buttons (F). The station setting begins flashing in
the LCD display (G). Continue to hold the button down until the flashing stops. The memory
button is now set.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set the other memory buttons.
Important Radio Notes
1. The radio will run up to 8 hours on a single battery charge using an 18 volt battery. Using
batteries of lower voltage will produce less run time.
2. Reception will vary depending on location and strength of radio signal.
3. Certain generators may cause background noise.
4. AM reception will most likely be clearer when powered by a battery pack.
5. To use the auxiliary port (K), plug the output jack from a CD or iPod
®
*/MP3 player into the
port (Fig. 1). The sound from the external source plays through the speakers of the DC012.

MAINTENANCE
Service Notes
This product is not user serviceable. There are no user serviceable parts inside the charger/
radio. Servicing at an authorized service center is required to avoid damage to static sensitive
internal components.
Cleaning
WARNING: Never use solvents or other harsh chemicals for cleaning the non-metallic parts
of the charger/radio. These chemicals may weaken the materials used in these parts. Use a
cloth dampened only with water and mild soap. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never
immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
CAUTION: NEVER spray or in any other way apply lubricants or cleaning solvents inside the
tool. This can seriously affect the life and performance of the tool.

Chargeur/Radio industriel de chantier DC012
Le chargeur/radio industriel de chantier DC012 est une combinaison radio AM/FM et chargeur
D
EWALT. Le DC012 rechargera la plupart des piles NiCd, NiMH et Li-Ion DEWALT de 7,2 à
18,0 volts, à l’exception des piles Univolt. Les piles sont vendues séparément.
Consignes de sécurité importantes

cuisinières ou tout autre appareil (y compris les amplificateurs).
9. Ne pas annihiler le but sécuritaire de la fiche polarisée ou mise à la terre. Une fiche
polarisée possède deux lames dont l’une est plus large que l’autre. Une fiche mise à
la terre possède deux lames et une troisième broche mise à la terre. La large lame ou
la troisième broche ont été installée pour assurer votre sécurité. Si la fiche fournie de
rentre pas dans la prise utilisée, consulter un électricien pour faire changer cette prise
désuète.
10. Protéger le cordon d’alimentation contre tout piétinement ou constriction particulièrement
au niveau des fiches, des prises, et au point de sortie des appareils.
11. Utiliser exclusivement des accessoires recommandés par le fabricant.
12. Ne poser la radio que sur une surface plane et stable.
13. Débrancher l’appareil pendant les orages, ou lorsqu’il restera inutilisé
pendant une période prolongée.
14. Confier l’entretien de l’appareil aux soins d’un personnel qualifié.
Faire systématiquement entretenir l’appareil en cas de dommages
quelconques, tels que : le cordon électrique, ou une fiche, a été
endommagé, un liquide ou un objet a pénétré dans l’appareil, l’appareil a été exposé à la
pluie ou à l’humidité, il ne fonctionne pas normalement ou il a fait une chute.
15. Protéger l’appareil de tout liquide, ou éclaboussure, et ne disposer aucun objet rempli
d’un liquide, (un vase par exemple) sur l’appareil.
Le symbole de l’éclair avec une flèche au sein d’un triangle a pour but de prévenir
l’utilisateur que certaines pièces au sein du produit posent des risques de chocs électriques
pour l’individu.
Le point d’exclamation au sein d’un triangle a pour but de prévenir l’utilisateur que des
instructions importantes d’utilisation et d’entretien sont incluses dans les documents

Pour commander un bloc-piles de rechange, s’assurer d’inclure son numéro de catalogue et sa
tension. Consulter le tableau en dernière page de ce manuel pour connaître les compatibilités
entre chargeurs et blocs-piles.
Le bloc-piles n’est pas totalement chargé d’usine. Avant d’utiliser le bloc-piles et le chargeur, lire
les consignes de sécurité ci-dessous. Puis suivre la procédure de charge indiquée.
LIRE TOUTES LES CONSIGNES
• Ne pas recharger ou utiliser un bloc-piles en milieu déflagrant, en présence, par
exemple, de poussières, gaz ou liquides inflammables. Le fait d’insérer ou retirer un bloc-
piles de son chargeur pourrait causer l’inflammation de poussières ou d’émanations.
• NE JAMAIS forcer l’insertion d’un bloc-piles dans un chargeur. NE modifier un bloc-
piles d’aucune façon pour le faire rentrer dans un chargeur incompatible, car il pourrait
se briser et causer des dommages corporels graves. Consulter le tableau en dernière
page de ce manuel pour connaître les compatibilités entre chargeurs et blocs-piles.
• Recharger les blocs-piles exclusivement dans des chargeurs D
EWALT.
• NE PAS éclabousser le bloc-piles ou l’immerger dans l’eau ou dans tout autre liquide.
• Ne pas entreposer ou utiliser l’appareil et le bloc-piles en présence de températures
ambiantes pouvant excéder 40 ˚C (105 °F) (comme dans des hangars ou des bâtiments
métalliques l’été).
DANGER : risques d’électrocution. Ne jamais tenter d’ouvrir le bloc-piles pour quelque raison
que ce soit. Si le boîtier du bloc-piles est fissuré ou endommagé, ne pas l’insérer dans un chargeur.
Ne pas écraser, laisser tomber, ou endommager les blocs-piles. Ne pas utiliser un bloc-piles ou
un chargeur qui a reçu un choc violent, ou si l’appareil est tombé, a été écrasé ou endommagé
de quelque façon que ce soit (p. ex. percé par un clou, frappé d’un coup de marteau, piétiné). Il
y a risques de chocs électriques ou d’électrocution. Les blocs-piles endommagés doivent être
renvoyés à un centre de réparation pour y être recyclés.
REMARQUE : un boîtier spécial et des capuchons sont fournis avec le bloc-piles pour le ranger
après utilisation ou chargement. Retirer le capuchon avant de réinsérer la pile sur le chargeur ou
l’outil.
AVERTISSEMENT : risques d’incendie. Au moment de ranger ou
transporter le bloc-piles, s’assurer qu’aucun objet métallique n’entre en
contact avec les bornes à découvert du bloc-piles. Par exemple, éviter de
placer un bloc-piles sans capuchon dans un tablier, une poche, une boîte à
outils ou un tiroir, etc., contenant des objets tels que des clous, des vis ou des
clés. Le fait de transporter des bloc-piles comporte des risques d’incendie car les bornes
des piles pourraient entrer, par inadvertance, en contact avec des objets conducteurs,
tels que : clés, pièces de monnaie, outils ou autres. La réglementation sur les produits
dangereux (Hazardous Material Regulations) du département américain des transports interdit,
en fait, le transport des piles pour le commerce ou dans les avions (ex : dans les bagages
enregistrés ou à main). À MOINS qu’elles ne soient correctement protégées contre tout court-
circuit. Aussi lors du transport individuel de piles, s’assurer que leurs bornes sont bien protégées
et isolées de tout matériau pouvant entrer en contact avec elles et provoquer un court-circuit.
CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ PROPRES AUX PILES DE NICKEL-CADMIUM (NiCd) OU À
L’HYDRURE MÉTALLIQUE DE NICKEL (NiMH)
• Ne pas incinérer le bloc-piles même s’il est sévèrement endommagé ou complètement
usagé, car il pourrait exploser et causer un incendie.
• De légères fuites de liquide peuvent se produire au niveau des cellules du bloc-piles
en cas d’utilisation ou de conditions de températures extrêmes. Cela ne représente en
aucun cas une défaillance du produit.
Toutefois, si le joint d’étanchéité extérieur est endommagé :
a. et que son liquide entre en contact avec la peau, rincer immédiatement à l’eau savonneuse
pendant quelques minutes.
b. et que son liquide entre en contact avec les yeux, les rincer aussitôt à l’eau claire pendant
au moins une dizaine de minutes puis consulter immédiatement un médecin. (Note
médicale : Le liquide est composé d’une solution comprenant 25 à 35% d’hydroxyde de
potassium.)
CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ PROPRES AUX PILES AU LITHIUM-ION (LI-ION)
• Ne pas incinérer le bloc-piles même s’il est sévèrement endommagé ou complètement
usagé, car il pourrait exploser et causer un incendie. Pendant l’incinération des blocs-piles
au lithium-ion, des vapeurs et matières toxiques sont dégagées.
• En cas de contact du liquide de la pile avec la peau, rincer immédiatement au savon
doux et à l’eau. En cas de contact oculaire, rincer l’œil ouvert à l’eau claire une quinzaine de
minutes ou jusqu’à ce que l’irritation cesse. Si des soins médicaux s’avéraient nécessaires,
noter que l’électrolyte de la pile est composé d’un mélange de carbonates organiques
liquides et de sels de lithium.
• Le contenu des cellules d’une pile ouverte peut causer une irritation respiratoire. En
cas d’inhalation, exposer l’individu à l’air libre. Si les symptômes persistent, consulter un
médecin.
AVERTISSEMENT : risques de brûlure. Le liquide de la pile peut s’enflammer s’il est exposé
à des étincelles ou à une flamme.

centre de recyclage local pour connaître d’autres sites les acceptant.

Directives de sécurité importantes propres à tous les
chargeurs de piles
CONSERVER CES INSTRUCTIONS : ce manuel contient des consignes de sécurité et
d’utilisation importantes propres au chargeur/radio DC012.
• Avant d’utiliser le chargeur, lire toute consigne et tout avertissement apposés sur le chargeur,
le bloc-piles et le produit utilisant le bloc-piles.
DANGER : risques d’électrocution. Une tension de 120 volts passe dans les bornes de
charge. Ne pas mettre en contact avec des objets conducteurs. Il y a risques de chocs
électriques ou d’électrocution.
AVERTISSEMENT : risques de chocs électriques. Ne laisser aucun liquide pénétrer dans le
chargeur. Des chocs électriques pourraient en résulter.
ATTENTION : risques de brûlure. Pour réduire tout risque de dommages corporels, ne
recharger que des piles rechargeables D
EWALT. Tout autre type de piles pourrait exploser et
causer des dommages corporels et matériels.
ATTENTION : sous certaines conditions, lorsque le chargeur est connecté au bloc
d’alimentation, les contacts de charge exposés à l’intérieur du chargeur peuvent être court-
circuités par des corps étrangers. Les corps étrangers conducteurs tels que (mais pas limité
à) paille de fer, feuilles d’aluminium, ou toute accumulation de particules métalliques doivent
être maintenus à distance des orifices du chargeur. Débrancher systématiquement le chargeur
lorsque le bloc-piles n’y est pas inséré. Débrancher systématiquement le chargeur avant tout
entretien.
• NE PAS tenter de charger de bloc-piles avec des chargeurs autres que ceux décrits
dans ce manuel. Le chargeur et son bloc-piles ont été conçus tout spécialement pour
fonctionner ensemble.
• Ces chargeurs n’ont pas été conçus pour une utilisation autre que recharger les blocs-
piles rechargeables D
EWALT. Toute autre utilisation comporte des risques d’incendie, de
chocs électriques ou d’électrocution.
• Protéger le chargeur de la pluie ou de la neige.
• Tirer sur la fiche plutôt que sur le cordon pour débrancher le chargeur. Cela permet de
réduire les risques d’endommager la fiche ou le cordon d’alimentation.
• S’assurer que le cordon est protégé de manière à ce que personne ne marche ni ne
trébuche dessus, ou à ce qu’il ne soit ni endommagé ni soumis à aucune tension.
• N’utiliser une rallonge qu’en cas de nécessité absolue. L’utilisation d’une rallonge
inadéquate comporte des risques d’incendie, de chocs électriques ou d’électrocution.
• Pour la sécurité de l’utilisateur, utiliser une rallonge de calibre adéquat (AWG, American
Wire Gauge [calibrage américain normalisé des fils électriques]). Plus le calibre est petit,
et plus sa capacité est grande. Un calibre 16, par exemple, a une capacité supérieure à un
calibre 18. Si plus d’une rallonge est utilisée pour obtenir une certaine longueur, s’assurer
que chaque rallonge présente au moins le calibre de fil minimum.
Rallonges
Utiliser exclusivement des rallonges mises à la terre et homologuées pour l’extérieur et un
équipement muni d’un troisième fil de terre.
Lorsqu’une rallonge longue est utilisée pour connecter une lampe de travail, un chargeur ou un
outil à un générateur, il se produit une chute de tension. Plus la rallonge est longue, plus la chute
est importante. Cela a pour résultat une chute de la tension alimentant la lampe de travail, le
chargeur ou l’outil, et l’augmentation de la quantité de courant (amp) utilisée, ou une baisse des
performances. Une rallonge de calibre supérieur réduira la chute de tension. S’assurer de choisir
une rallonge fournissant une tension suffisante pour l’utilisation de l’outil, le chargeur ou la lampe
de travail. Le tableau ci-dessous indique les calibres de tension appropriés pour les rallonges et
la chute de tension causée par leur utilisation, en tenant compte de la charge électrique.
AVERTISSEMENT : prendre soin des rallonges. Pour réduire tout risque de chocs électriques,
ne pas utiliser de rallonges usées, dénudées ou abîmées.
AVERTISSEMENT : l’utilisation d’un matériel sur basse tension peut causer sa surchauffe.
L’utilisation d’une rallonge excessivement longue peut aussi causer sa surchauffe.
