This appliance contains a laser system and
is classified as a “CLASS 1 LASER

read this Owner’s Manual carefully and keep
this manual for your future reference. In
case of any trouble with this player, please
contact your nearest “AUTHORIZED service
station”. To prevent direct exposure to the
laser beam, do not try to open the enclosure.

Handling Compact Discs
Use only compact discs bearing the
mark.
Do not play heart-shaped, octagonal, or other
specially shaped compact discs.
Handling
• Compared to ordinary music CDs, CD-R and
CD-RW discs are both easily affected by high
temperature and humidity and some of CD-R
and CD-RW discs may not be played.
Therefore, do not leave them for a long time in
the car.
• New discs may have some roughness around
the edges. If such discs are used, the player
may not work or the sound may skip. Use a
ball-point pen or the like to remove any rough-
ness from the edge of the disc.

Roughness
• Never stick labels on the surface of the com-
pact disc or mark the surface with a pencil or
pen.
• Never play a compact disc with any cello-
phane tape or other glue on it or with peeling
off marks. If you try to play such a compact
disc, you may not be able to get it back out of
the CD player or it may damage the CD
player.
• Do not use compact discs that have large
scratches, are misshapen, cracked, etc. Use
of such discs may cause misoperation or
damage.
• To remove a compact disc from its storage
case, press down on the center of the case
and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the
edges.
• Do not use commercially available CD protec-
tion sheets or discs equipped with stabilizers,
etc. These may damage the disc or cause
breakdown of the internal mechanism.
Storage
• Do not expose compact discs to direct sun-
light or any heat source.
• Do not expose compact discs to excess hu-
midity or dust.
• Do not expose compact discs to direct heat
from heaters.
Cleaning
• To remove fingermarks and dust, use a soft
cloth and wipe in a straight line from the cen-
ter of the compact disc to the circumference.
• Do not use any solvents, such as commer-
cially available cleaners, anti-static spray, or
thinner to clean compact discs.
• After using special compact disc cleaner, let
the compact disc dry off well before playing it.

1.PRECAUTIONS
1. When the inside of the car is very cold and
the player is used soon after switching on the
heater moisture may form on the disc or the
optical parts of the player and proper play-
back may not be possible. If moisture forms
on the disc, wipe it off with a soft cloth. If
moisture forms on the optical parts of the
player, do not use the player for about one
hour. The condensation will disappear natu-
rally allowing normal operation.
2. Driving on extremely bumpy roads which
cause severe vibration may cause the sound
to skip.

For VW and Audi Vehicles
1. When the car stereo is installed in 1998 and
later Volkswagen models, make sure to cut
the car lead wire connected the A-5 terminal.
(A breakdown could occur if the lead wire is
not cut.) After cutting the lead wire, insulate
the front end of the lead wire with insulation
tape to prevent the risk of short-circuits.
Note:
Before cutting the lead wire, disconnect the car
battery - (negative) cable.
2. When the DB328R / BD329R / DB328RB /
BD329RG is also connected to an external
amplifier, connect REMOTE on the external
amplifier to the previously cut lead wire on the
side of the connector.
3. Volksw agen models (DB328RB) have already
changed position of the fuse for installation in
such vehicles.
4.DCP
The control panel can be detached to prevent
theft. When detaching the control panel, store it
in the DCP (DETACHABLE CONTROL PANEL)
case to prevent scratches.
We recommend taking the DCP with you when
leaving the car.
Removing the DCP
1. Press the [FNC] button for 1 second or
longer to switch off the power.
2. Press in the [RELEASE] button.
∗ The DCP is unlocked
3. Remove the DCP.
Attaching the DCP
1. Insert the right side of the DCP into the main
unit.
2. Insert the left side of the DCP into the main
unit.
Storing the DCP in the DCP Case
Hold the DCP, in the orientation as shown in the
figure below, and put it into the supplied DCP
case. (Ensure the DCP is in the correct orienta-
tion.)

Note:
• If the DCP is dirty, wipe off the dirt with a soft, dry
cloth only.
CAUTION
• The DCP can easily be damaged by
shocks. After removing it, be careful not to
drop it or subject it to strong shocks.
• When the Release button is pressed and
the DCP is unlocked, the car’s vibrations
may cause it to fall. To prevent damage to
the DCP, always store it in its case after de-
taching it. (ee figure below.)
• The connector connecting the main unit
and the DCP is an extremely important
part. Be careful not to damage it by press-
ing on it with fingernails, screwdrivers, etc.

Note:
• Be sure to read this chapter referring to the front diagrams of chapter “2. CONTROLS” on page 5 (unfold).
[RELEASE] button
• Press the [RELEASE] button to unlock the
DCP.
[Z] button
• Use the button to select one of the three
types of sound characteristics already stored
in memory. (Z-Enhancer)
[FNC] button
• Press the button to turn on the power.
Press and hold the button for 1second or
longer to turn off the power.
• Switches the operation mode among the ra-
dio mode, etc.
[CD SLOT]
• CD insertion slot.
[DIRECT] button
• Stores a station into memory or recall it di-
rectly while in the radio mode.
[SCN] button
• Performs scan play for 10 seconds for each
track while in the CD mode.
[DISP] button
• Press the [DISP] button while keeping the
[BND] button pressed, to switch the display
indication (Main display, clock display).
[RPT] button
• Plays repeatedly while in the CD mode.
[Q] button
• Ejects a CD when it is loaded into the unit.
[s] button
• Plays or pauses a CD while in the CD mode.
[RDM] button
• Performs random play while in the CD mode.
[SS] button
• Press the [SS] button while keeping the
[BND] button pressed, to turn the screen
saver function on or off.
Names of the Buttons and their Functions
[TA] button
• Use the button to set the TA (Traffic An-
nouncement) standby mode.
[PTY] button
• Use the button to set the PTY (Programme
Type) standby mode or PTY items.
[AF] button
• Press the button to turn on or off the AF (Al-
ternative Frequency) function.
• When the button is pressed and held, Re-
gional function can select ON or OFF.
[PS/AS] button
• Performs preset scan while in the radio
mode. When the button is pressed and held,
auto store is performed.
[BND] button
• Switches the band, or seek tuning or manual
tuning while in the radio mode.
• Plays a first track while in the CD mode.
[A-M] button
• Press and hold the button for 1 second or
longer to switch the MAGNA BAS on/off.
• Use the button to switch to the audio mode
(bass/treble, balance/fader)
[ROTARY] knob
• Adjust the volume by turning the knob clock-
wise or counterclockwise.
• Use the knob to perform various settings.
[ ], [ ] button
• Selects a station while in the radio mode or
selects a track when listening to a CD .
• Press and hold the button for 1 second or
longer to switches the fast-forward/fast-back-
ward.

In extreme cold, the screen movement may slow down and the screen may darken, but this is normal.

1.VOORZORGEN
1. Wanneer de auto van binnen zeer koud is en
de speler wordt gebruikt direct nadat de ver-
warming is aangezet, kan zich condens vor-
men op de disc of op de optische delen van
de speler en kan het onmogelijk blijken om
de disc op de normale wijze af te spelen.
Wanneer er inderdaad condens zit op de
disc, dient u dit te verwijderen met een
zachte doek. Als er condens zit op de opti-
sche onderdelen van de speler, mag u de
speler ongeveer een uur niet gebruiken. De
condensatie zal dan op de natuurlijke manier
verdwijnen zodat het apparaat weer normaal
werkt.
2. Rijden op bijzonder oneffen wegen waardoor
er ernstige vibraties ontstaan kunnen het ge-
luid doen overslaan.

Voor voertuigen van VW en Audi
1. Voor het installeren van de autostereo in
Volkswagens van het jaar 1998 en latere mo-
dellen moet u het aansluitdraad afknippen
om de A-5 aansluiting te verbinden. (U krijgt
mogelijk problemen indien het aansluitdraad
niet is afgeknipt.) Na het afknippen van het
aansluitdraad moet u het voorste uiteinde
van het aansluitdraad met isolatieband af-
dekken om kortsluiting te voorkomen.
Opmerking:
Ontkoppel de negatieve accukabel (-) van de
auto alvorens het aansluitdraad af te knippen.
2. Indien DB328R / BD329R / DB328RB /
BD329RG tevens met een externe versterker
wordt verbonden, moet u REMOTE van de
externe versterker met het aansluitdraad aan
de kant van de afgeknipte stekker verbinden.
3. Voor Volkswagen modellen (DB328RB) is de
positie van de zekering reeds gewijzigd met
het oog op installatie in dergelijke voertuigen.

Hanteren van compact discs
Gebruik alleen Compact Discs met het
teken.
Gebruik geen hartvormige of achthoekige Compact
Discs of CD’s met een andere afwijkende vorm.
Hanteren
• Vergeleken met gewone muziek CD’s zijn CD-
R en CD-RW discs gevoeliger voor hoge tem-
peraturen en vochtigheid en is het mogelijk
dat sommige CD-R en CD-RW discs niet kun-
nen worden afgespeeld. Laat deze schijfjes
daarom nooit lang in de auto liggen.
• Nieuwe discs zijn misschien wat ruw aan de
rand. Als u zulke discs gebruikt, is het moge-
lijk dat de speler niet werkt of dat de weergave
hapert of stokt. Gebruik een balpen of iets
dergelijks om de rand van de disc gladder te
maken.
• Gebruik geen Compact Discs met grote kras-
sen, die vervormd zijn of gebarsten enz. Ge-
bruik van dergelijke discs kan een storing of
schade veroorzaken.
• Om een Compact Disc uit zijn doosje te halen,
drukt u op het midden van het doosje en tilt u
de disc eruit terwijl u hem voorzichtig aan de
randen vasthoudt.
• Gebruik geen in de handel verkrijgbare CD
beschermvellen of discs die voorzien zijn van
stabilisatoren enz. Deze kunnen de disc be-
schadigen of storingen in het inwendige van
het apparaat veroorzaken.
Bewaren
• Stel Compact Discs niet bloot aan direct zon-
licht of warmtebronnen.
• Stel Compact Discs niet bloot aan extreem
vochtige of stoffige omstandigheden.
• Stel Compact Discs niet bloot aan directe
warmte van verwarmingsapparaten.
Schoonmaken
• Om vingerafdrukken en stof te verwijderen ge-
bruikt u een zachte doek en veegt u in een
rechte lijn van het midden van de Compact
Disc naar de rand.
• Gebruik geen oplosmiddelen, zoals in de han-
del verkrijgbare reinigingsmiddelen, anti-stati-
sche sprays of thinner om Compact Discs
schoon te maken.
• Laat de Compact Disc goed drogen nadat u
deze hebt schoon gemaakt met speciale
Compact Disc reiniger, voor u deze weer gaat
afspelen.
Balpen
Ruwe rand
• Plak nooit labels op de disc en schrijf er nooit
op met een potlood of een pen.
• Speel nooit een Compact Disc af met een
stuk plakband erop of andere lijm of lijm-
resten. Als u toch probeert een dergelijke
Compact Disc af te spelen, is het mogelijk dat
u deze niet meer uit de CD-speler zal weten te
krijgen, of dat deze de CD-speler zal bescha-
digen.
