Setting a Password

Perform the following to set a new supervisor password:

1.Use the and keys to highlight the Set Supervisor Password parameter and pressEnter. TheSet Supervisor Password dialog is shown.(Figure 2-4)

To change an existing password, refer to Changing a Password.

2.Type a new password in the Enter NewPassword field and pressEnter.

+IMPORTANT:

Use care when typing a password. Characters do not appear on the screen.

3.Retype password in the Confirm NewPassword field and pressEnter.

4.If new password and confirm new password strings match, the Setup Notice dialog screen is shown(Figure 2-5).If it is not, go to step 6.

a.Press Enter to return to theBIOS Setup Utility Security menu.

b.The Supervisor Password parameter is shown as Set.

c.Press F10 to save changes and exitBIOS Setup Utility.

5.If new password and confirm new password strings do not match, the Setup Warning dialog is shown.(Figure 2-6)

Removing a Password

Perform the following:

1.Use the and keys to highlight Set Supervisor Password and pressEnter. TheSet Supervisor Password dialog box is shown.(Figure 2-7)

2.Type current password in Enter CurrentPassword field and pressEnter.

3.Press Enter twicewithout typing anything inEnter NewPassword andConfirm NewPassword fields. Computer will setSupervisor Password parameter toClear.

4.Press F10 to save changes and exit theBIOS Setup Utility.

Changing a Password

1.Use the and keys to highlight Set Supervisor Password and pressEnter. TheSet Supervisor Password dialog is shown.(Figure 2-8)

2.Type current password in Enter CurrentPassword field and pressEnter.

3.Type new password in Enter NewPassword field and pressEnter.
